Shoe sizes are not universal — US, UK, and EU scales use different numbering, and foot length in centimeters (Mondopoint) is often the most comparable measure across brands. This converter uses common retail crosswalk tables for men's and women's footwear.
Half sizes, wide/narrow widths, and sport-specific lasts mean two people with the same labeled size may need different fits. Always try shoes on or check a brand's size chart before ordering online.
Example: women's US 8 ≈ UK 6, EU 38, 25 cm foot length. Men's US 10 ≈ UK 9.5, EU 43, 28 cm. Charts vary — treat results as planning estimates.
Mondopoint — foot length in millimetres or centimetres — is the ISO-based measure many manufacturers use internally. Converting to Mondopoint first, then reading a brand chart, usually beats jumping straight from US to EU labels, because those scales were never standardized against each other.
Women's and men's US sizes are different length scales. A women's US 8 is not the same foot length as a men's US 8 — typically about 1.5 sizes apart — so select the chart that matches the listing rather than converting across gender charts without adjusting.
UK sizes run about one size smaller than US men's for the same foot length, while EU (Paris point) sizes are based on roughly 2/3 cm increments. Charts vary by brand, so treat any crosswalk as a planning estimate and confirm with the seller's size guide.
Width is a separate dimension this tool does not convert. Narrow (N/B), medium (M/D), and wide (W/2E) lasts change fit at the same length label — especially important for athletic and hiking shoes.
Measure standing, at the end of the day, in the socks you will wear. Feet swell slightly during the day, and that is how most brand charts assume you measured. Athletic models often run half a size small relative to casual lasts from the same brand.
Athletic shoes often run half a size small — check brand reviews after converting length in cm.
Measure foot length standing, end of day, socks on — matches how most size charts assume you measure.

Common questions
Why do my sizes differ between brands?
Each brand uses its own last and grading. EU 42 in one label may fit like EU 41 in another. Foot length in cm is the most reliable cross-brand reference.
Are men's and women's scales the same?
No. A women's US 8 is not the same length as a men's US 8. Select the chart that matches the listing you are buying from.
Does this include width sizes?
No — this tool converts length-based size labels only. Wide (W) and narrow (N) widths are not covered.
