Front-door mode multiplies trick-or-treat hours by kids per hour and pieces per child, then adds a "sneak candy" term for household members snacking before the 31st. Rainy weather applies a lower traffic multiplier; busy nights bump traffic up. Bag counts round up from your chosen pieces per bag.

The sneak term uses days until Halloween from today's date (via the live countdown logic) times household size times pieces sneaked per person per day — useful when kids (or adults) sample the stash early. Turn down sneak per day if candy stays sealed until Halloween night.

Classroom mode is simpler: number of kids times items per treat bag, divided into store bag sizes. Estimate mode multiplies houses on your route by an expected participation rate to guess total visitors when you are new to a neighborhood.

Example (door, typical weather): 3 hours at 70 kids/hour with 3 pieces each yields 630 door pieces. With 10 days until Halloween, a household of 4 sneaking 2 pieces/day adds 80 — 710 total, or 10 bags at 75 pieces per bag.

Weather multipliers are planning heuristics, not census data. A well-lit porch on a rainy night may still see steady traffic if indoor alternatives are scarce. Buy one extra bag if you hate running out mid-route.

Classroom parties often cap sugar — check school policy on nuts, homemade treats, and portion sizes before filling bags. Pre-wrapped factory candy is the norm in many districts.

Limits: does not model multi-night trunk-or-treat events, church fall festivals, or mixed candy types with different piece weights. Weigh bulk mixes separately if nutrition labels matter.
