Lash and wax pricing

Lash fills, full sets, and wax services have shorter chair times but steady supply costs — adhesive, pads, wax, strips, and disposables add up per client. Use the same cost-plus structure as full salon color: labor from service minutes × hourly goal, plus product and overhead, then margin on price. Underpricing a 45-minute fill because “it feels quick” is a common way lash techs miss income goals.

Product cost should include only consumables used on that client: lashes, adhesive, primer, remover, under-eye pads, micro brushes, wax, and strips. Amortize tools like tweezers and lamps over many services — do not put the full tweezer cost on one fill. Track adhesive drops per set; fresh bottles opened too early inflate cost per appointment. Include aftercare swabs and mini brushes if you send clients home with them.

Labor cost = service minutes ÷ 60 × hourly goal. A 45-minute lash fill at a $45/hr goal assigns $33.75 in labor before supplies. Hourly goal should cover slow days, cancellations, and time spent on consultations, patch tests, and aftercare messages — not just hands-on application minutes.

Overhead for booth renters and suite stylists includes rent, booking fees, laundry, marketing, and insurance. Even mobile or home-based techs should allocate something per service for software, liability coverage, and equipment wear. Margin targets for specialty services often run 30–40% because rework and no-shows eat into effective hourly pay.

Worked example with defaults: $6 supplies, 45-minute service at $45/hr = $33.75 labor, $10 overhead → base cost $49.75. At 35% margin, recommended price = $49.75 ÷ 0.65 ≈ $76.54, with about $26.75 profit before taxes. If your market charges $85–$120 for a fill, you are above the floor — if competitors charge $55, check whether your supply tracking and time estimates match reality.

Run the calculator separately for full sets, fills, brow wax, and body wax — each has different minutes and product use. Full sets usually need higher product cost and longer time. Promotional “new client” discounts should still clear break-even; do not train clients to expect permanent sale pricing. Review menu prices quarterly when adhesive, lash tray, or hard-wax bead costs change at wholesale.
