Ornament counts scale with tree height and how full you want the tree to look. A common starting point is 10–15 ornaments per foot of tree — fewer for a minimalist tree, more when you mix sizes and fill inner branches.

This calculator multiplies height by your chosen ornaments-per-foot figure and rounds up to a whole hook count. Mixed-size sets still use the same total — large statement ornaments simply mean fewer small balls in the same count.

Garland wraps add estimated feet when you plan spiral garland from tip toward the base. Each wrap uses a rough helical path based on tree height — actual length varies with how loosely you drape and how wide the tree is.

Leave room for sentimental one-offs, kid crafts, and gift ornaments that arrive late. Rounding up by one ornament tube (often 12–24 pieces) avoids a bare patch on the back side of the tree.
