Common questions
Why can my Upwork fee be different on each contract?
Since May 2025, new Upwork contracts use a variable freelancer service fee from 0% to 15%, set when the offer is sent. The fee is locked for the life of that contract but can differ on your next project.
Is 10% still the standard Upwork fee?
10% remains a common rate, especially on Enterprise contracts, but new standard contracts may show anything from 0% to 15%. Check the fee shown on each proposal or offer before accepting.
Does this include Connect costs or withdrawal fees?
No. Connects ($0.15 each) are spent when you submit proposals. Withdrawal, currency conversion, and Freelancer Plus subscription costs are also separate.
