Common questions
Do I pay Shopify fees if I use PayPal instead of Shopify Payments?
Yes. If you use a third-party payment gateway instead of Shopify Payments, Shopify adds a transaction fee on each order: 2% on Basic, 1% on Grow, or 0.6% on Advanced — on top of whatever your gateway charges.
Does this include my monthly Shopify subscription?
No. This calculator shows per-order payment processing (and optional third-party surcharge) only. Add your plan cost ($39/$105/$399 per month, or annual equivalents) separately.
What about premium or international cards?
Shopify charges higher rates for premium/business cards and international cards (+1%). This calculator uses standard domestic consumer card rates.
