Rabbit age in human years

Rabbits mature quickly — the first year of life maps to roughly 20 human years in many reference charts. After that, each additional rabbit year adds about six human years. This is a curiosity chart, not a clinical life-stage assessment.

Domestic rabbits live about 8–12 years with good care, though giant breeds often have shorter lifespans. Senior rabbits need more frequent vet checks, diet adjustments, and arthritis-friendly housing — age alone does not predict health.

Example: a 1-year-old rabbit ≈ 20 human years. A 5-year-old rabbit ≈ 44 human years (20 + 4×6). Compare with our dog and cat age calculators for other pets.

Common questions

Is this the same chart as dogs and cats?

No. Rabbits have their own aging curve. Use the dog or cat calculators for those species.

When is a rabbit considered senior?

Many vets consider rabbits senior around age 5–6, but it depends on breed and health. Regular exotic-animal vet visits matter more than any chart.

Does indoor vs outdoor life matter?

Indoor rabbits often avoid predators and extreme weather, but lifespan still depends on diet, dental care, and veterinary access — not this chart alone.
